Resort Timeshare

After resort upgrades, how will my timeshare’s value be translated into the point system of Starwood VO?
I am trying to understand how value will be assigned to our existing timeshare (Vistana Spa…now used as a “week”) when upgrades to our timeshare are completed. These upgrades are necessary to bring the quality of the resort up to Starwood standards. Because the upgrades represent additional, significant cost to owners, I am trying to understand what points value we could reasonably expect if we convert to points once the upgrade is completed? I am not sure how SVO will work for us. Thanks.
The biggest difference between weeks and points is the flexibility that points allow. You can have minimum stays of 3 days and you can stay longer that a week if you want. Additionally, points allow you to stay in a studio, one, two, or three bedroom condo. This allows you to plan a variety of vacations. That is the simple answer.
The real answer is that you need to very careful when you look at purchasing more timeshare and converting to points. You need to remember that timeshare is not an investment no matter what anyone tells you and that you will not realistically be able to sale your timeshare when you are finished with it. Another issue is that it is more difficult to exchange than what you think.
I recommend that you do more research and check out the forums at tug, redweeks, and ARDA. Additionally, start reading the blogs, there are so many scams out there that it is hard to keep up with. Good luck
